Rainmakers & Potstirrers:
The process explained

Rainmakers & Potstirrers is an annual print publication produced by Miningmx, which provides a qualitative directory of the most 100 influential people in the African mining market.

The selection process for the first two print editions has been made, very subjectively, by Miningmx journalists (see Selection Team below).

Going forward, however, we intend to incorporate nominations made by you, the user:
Act now if you’d like to see your nomination appear in the print edition, due for publication in February 2011. Or you can just update an existing profile because it’s either incorrect in some aspect or could be augmented. A third option is simply to view online the current Rainmakers & Potstirrers 2010.

The legend, as set down in the upper right hand block, is a guide to how we make our selections and a criteria for making yours:
A ‘rainmaker’ is an individual who makes things happen while a ‘potstirrer’ is - oftentimes - a controversial, opinion-maker. We ‘flag’ certain individuals when we know they are going to be important in the future, while the ‘Wildcard’ symbol is for those people whom we suspect will be important, without much empirical evidence! Finally, ‘Politics Awaits’ denotes those gifted individuals for whom ‘the gab’ is a selling point.

In either updating an existing profile or suggesting a new one for our 2011 print edition, you must provide accurate details of yourself.

We will not publish those details but we need the bona fides to keep Rainmakers & Potstirrers Online a valuable and sustainable part of Miningmx.
